Re: 100p Bariloche with vertical S.Oficial
Wiggins Teape paper has a parallel watermark; Kupferschidt an orthogonal watermark. All have the direction of paper horizontal so this results in the WT version having "AR" parallel tot the small side of rthe stamp, in the case of the Kupferschmidt the "AR" parallel tot the long ...

Re: France 1966 Coat of arms Saint-Lô
In the period in which supposedly all cylinder were prepared in Périgueux AND all stamps have phosphor bars, we find 3 types of blue: - 7 dots/mm hor. and 8 dots/mm vert.; red 8 dots/mm vert.; silver R80, gold both R80 and R70, - 8 dots/mm hor. and 7 dots/mm vert.; red both 8 dots/mm and 6 dots/mm v...

Re: France 1966 Coat of arms Saint-Lô
The various cylinders so far recognised in terms of screens: - blue 6.5 dots/mm horizontally, 9 dots/mm vertically - is the one from the private industry and has ALL stamp images exactly the same as screen dot arrangement! In combination with red horizontal rhomboids that count 8 dots vertically and...

Re: Double impressions - vibrations or rebouncing?
In modern offset-litho printing occasionally you can find nice examples of the vibration! The gummi cylinder [with the black ink on it] was shaky! http://www.galeoptix.nl/fila/de/thumbs/de_1972_olymp_block_zitter_schwarz_00.jpg http://www.galeoptix.nl/fila/de/thumbs/de_1972_olymp_block_zitter_schwar...

Re: France 1966 Coat of arms Saint-Lô
Would a commercial producent of photogravure cylinder go that far as to bother about the identical appearance of stamps? To such a far degree???? Would they have bothered to screen the individual stamp image first before using a step-and-repeat machine to prepare a multi-positive??? Or did they have...

Re: France 1966 Coat of arms Saint-Lô
In the preparation of any photogravure cylinder so far, a glass/film with a pre-engraved screen had been used. Transposing this over a film containing all stamps images - multi-positive - onto the carbon tissue,etc.... would lead to individual stamps having difference in the arrrangment of screen do...

Re: France 1966 Coat of arms Saint-Lô
The rhombic structure reminds me of the first Belgian computer steered engraving for the King Baldwin definitives. The printing house in Mechelen/Malines claims to have printed the first ever EME [electro-mechanical engraving used for] postage stamps in 1982. Is this claim right???? I started to dou...

The French philatelists refer to the history of this stamp in terms of 3 periods: - 1966-1968 cylinders prepared by the "industrie privée" break due to the transfer - 1970-1972 idem - 1973-1978 cylinder prepared in Périgueux in the printing house itself http://www.galeoptix.nl/fila/france/...

Re: France 1966 Coat of arms Saint-Lô
What drew my attention to this stamp in the first place was the arrangement of the screen dots in a rhombic setting. http://www.galeoptix.nl/fila/france/thumbs/france_1966_st_lo_c40_g40_m40_s40_197302xx_00.jpg http://www.galeoptix.nl/fila/france/thumbs/france_1966_st_lo_c40_g40_m40_s40_197302xx_01.j...
