it is possible that H&L Slater used two different wires on different machine or on the same machine on another moment of time!
However, the so-called acanalado is just the rayado horizontal with 18 horizontal threads per centimeter!!! TIEV started to use it in 1977 for the 50 years Mexican Football Federation!!!
The rayado horizontal (RH) with the extra diagonals is the second type of paper 2 as far as I am concerned. I do not believe in the liso version for paper 2 until if have seen it myself or have come across a good scan plus a good description! The variety of translucidity in paper 2 RH is great and does NOT make it to a separate type of paper as Arturo wants to have it!
Liso to me is the surface of the gum side for paper 1 and papers 5/6! That is, no grooves, just the craters reflecting the felt side of the stamp paper! The front of the stamps may have grooves, although in paper 1 it does NOT show!!
