Re: Mexico - avant garde printing techniques - 1916-now
Apart from these few values in reduced sizes, most other values of the 1934 definitives continued to be printed in screenless photogravure or a combination of recess and screenless.... This lasted till the 1950 Archeology and Architecture definitives.
Several printings on various types of paper had been made in the 1934-1950 period!
Two completely different values - airmail 10 pesos and 20 pesos were issued in 1947:
The 10p in screenless photogravure plus recess:
The 20p in bicoloured recess only [?]:

Re: Mexico - avant garde printing techniques - 1916-now
Before the 1950 Archeology and Architecture definitives set started, we could have expected that most other transitions had been smoothly.
Some special services like the express delivery also had had their change form screenless to screened photogravure

Re: Mexico - avant garde printing techniques - 1916-now
The new definitives of 1950 Archeology and Architecture consisted of two parts: the normal and the airmail stamps.
The low value normal stamps had all been printed in screened photogravure; the Peso values however in screenless photogravure and so were the airmail stamps!

Re: Mexico - avant garde printing techniques - 1916-now
The 1950 definitives had 2 major aspects by means of which the set could be split up!
1- The watermark "Gobierno Mexicano" was replaced in 1953 by "MEX-MEX" plus Eagle!
2 - The screen gauge of the screened photogravure had been 70 dots/cm during the period 1937-1960! By mid 1960 the screen got replaced by a much finer screen: 100 dots/cm.

Most frequently used watermarks:
[I - 1923-1943 = Michel 7] MEXICO CORREOS
[II - 1935-1936 = Michel 8] SECRETARIA DE HACIENDA MEXICO
[III - 1937 =Michel 9] SECRETARIA DE HACIENDA MEXICO (lines between)
[IV - 1944-1946 = Michel 10] S.H.C.P. MEXICO (eagle in circle)
[V - 1946-1950 = Michel 11] GOBIERNO MEXICANO (eagle in oval)
[VI - 1953-1972 = Michel 12] MEX-MEX (eagle)
[VII - 1963-1972 = Michel 13] MEX (eagle)
The "Mexico Correos" we have already met:
The direction of the text is important in this watermark and also note that the letters in a vertical "column" are the same! The word "Correos" is complete here.

The "Gobierno Mexicano" has been build up in 2 lines ending in the eagle. Seen vertically or horizontally never the same letters next to each other!

The "Mexico Correos" turns out to have more than one version!

Running from bottom right to top left:
Most significant however is the fact that the yellow line runs horizontally!
Compare with the 1923 version:
