Daniel,
my main complaints about the most recent publications on the PyR I are - fully recognising the major importance of it and the tremendous effort that went with it - e.g. the Tabla and the Clasificacion:
- Lack of illustrations /Images
- Eje de enrollamiento
To be able to specialise Argentinean postage stamps it is absolutely VITAL to understand the concept of the direction of paper (eje de enrollamiento). If you do not know it you are nowhere. Bardi is repeatly using it in his article and in his occasional posts in this forum. It should be the basis of ALL studies of paper and watermarks - whether it be the 1892 Rivadavias or the 1970-ies 100p Bariloches....
Being able to tell that "eje" you only have to establish whether the line of the watermark (renglon de filigrana) runs parallel opr is perpendicular to it. Thuis should decide whether we have "M" or a "m"!
M = eje runs parallel to the long side of the stamp;
m = eje runs parallel to the short side of the stamp.
In the 2 mentioned publications they are mixed up and when also the terms "vertical" and "horizontal" are used, we are lost....
- the lack of the Servico Oficial stamps!
These stamps are part of PyR I!!!!! Some of the S.O. stamps do not exist without S.O. for the very simple reason that it was a bi-coloured issue [one colour for the pictorial and the second for the black, re dor blue SO!] printed in 1 printing run.
Whatever meeting you will have in a near future with colleagues, these aspects have to be stressed over and over again!
The eminences grises will know exactly what I am talking about and ought not be afraid to tell the younger students of the PyR ....

Daniel,
M = eje paralelo a la parte larga de la marca;
