Size - tamaño! Meaning what?????

In the recent comments on the new Mello Teggia catalogue complaints about the sizes of the 20c Brown a.o.

What was always a big mess in the catalogue was the mentioning of different sizes without telling whether the sizes refer to the design [the printed part] or the stamp itself [within the borders of the perforation].

A good example of that mess is the 1p Girasol in brown. The old edition mentions a size that refers to the overall size of the stamp. But how do we know??? The new Goebel rotary (reel-fed) photogravure press was the reason for similar changes of sizes of several definitives!

But when you have a good look at both versions - the shorter one and the longer one, you will see that the latter one has a much shorter size of design! Even though the stamp itself is longer!!

In the case of the 50p Jose de San Martin the mentioned sizes refer to the actual design this time!

The description in the catalogue is OK, but wouldn't it be better to mention the generic change of perforation as well???

And why not mention which perforation goes with which stamp - 13 1/2 or 13 1/2:13?

Suddenly a completely different size???

22x31.5mm and later 31.5x22mm. And eventually 32.4x22.5?

Turned 90 degrees maybe? :
