To gum or not to gum...that is the question!

Is the gum important in the P&R-I issues, to help to the correct classification of papers?
Or perhaps, due to his thickness and color does it make the study more difficult?

Maybe is it preferable to collect these stamps in used condition or without gum?

it is important as the imported papers have a cross-diagonal breaking of the gum, whereas the national paper [including the no watermarks] have either a hardly visible breaking [craquele] or just one diagonal or a horizontal or vertical one!

Stamps with gum - other than decide whether it is Zarate or not - makes the establishing what type of paper we have very difficult....

Some of the gums are unique to a paper or range of papers, but I have not looked that carefully at this issue. I do notice that the unwatermarked grid stamps (NGR) have a very white gum, while the firsty papers (English 1E1 and Austrian 1E2) have yellowish gum.
