1916 100 years of Independence

The 1916 Independence series was the first set of stamps printed in offset-litho by the Casa de Moneda de la Nacion. On the whole Argentina was one of the first countries adopting that printing process after it had been developed in the United States of America around 1903-1905 by Ira Washington Rubel. The Casa de Moneda acquired the English printing press already in October 1913!
The USA however used this method for a very short period after 1918! The Germans used it since 1920!
As we have shown in the various PyR postings the offset-litho cylinders had been made up photo-mechanically using a root block of 5x2 or 5x5 in which certain characteristics were reproduced and could be found in a frequency of 1:10 or 1:25. There is every reason to believe that this way of making up an offset-litho cylinder had been used in 1916 too!
