As I wrote, the 2 watermarks I can find both have an orthogonal watermark combined with a vertical direction of paper [this could not be otherwise simply because of the way the coils had been printed!]. In mr Bardi's terms it is indeed a "m".
In my point of view, the direction of paper [eje de enrollamiento] is THE CARDINAL notion for everybody who is studying type of paper [with or without watermark!] and relative to that the fact that that "eje" is parallel to the long side of the JSM stamp, I use the "M' for major [the longer side!]. mr Bardi can not assign a "m" or "M" to stamps without watermark, I can

En mi punto de vista, la dirección de papel [Eje de enrollamiento] es la noción CARDINAL para todo el mundo que está estudiando el tipo de papel [con o sin marca de agua!] Y en relación a que el hecho de que ese "eje" es paralela a la larga lado de la marca de JSM, yo uso la "M" para mayor [el lado más largo!].
