Re: The Manual - G.A. Pettigiani - 2010
A little bit higher up we had two stamps of which it was not clear whether we had type A or type B!
Turning the stamps 90 degrees gives us a better idea!
Indeed! Both have type B ....

Re: The Manual - G.A. Pettigiani - 2010
Getting back to the 3 types of the 10c Rivadavia chestnut-brown in offset-litho:
type A issued in 1941/1942
type B issued in 1948
type C issued in 1954
There is no return of type A in 1954 as Tony Rubiera once suggested...
All alleged types A - including those on the Zárate papers are in fact type C!

Some ore examples of type C:
This should do for a while!
It is the highest time the experts of the P&R I series start combing their collection and spare stamps for this type!

Re: The Manual - G.A. Pettigiani - 2010
On May, 7th, 1951 the 20c Ganaderia - Torito - because of the smaller size in comparison with the 20c Toro - was issued in offset-litho. Later that year,in September the typography version appeared. Again one may ask why two printing methods????
The typography version first as there is only 1 type known! Quite similar to the first type we will meet for the offset-litho printings!

The Torito in offset-litho occurs in 4 different variants.
First type of tongue - slightly different from the typography version:

Re: The Manual - G.A. Pettigiani - 2010
Discussing the individual values is a bit problematic. In my comments on the types of paper I might have suggested that I prefer to use to nomenclature of Dario Bardi rather than that of G.A. Pettigiani.
Where Pettigiani makes sub-divsions according to me we need a lot more studying. The fact that Pettigiani can not distinguish the direction of paper of the no watermarks when the "grené" leaves him, makes we worried
On the whole, the prices for the individual stamps are a bit higher that with Bardi. Some are still too low. It is a good thing that not too many philatelists have discovered this series. Some that Bardi values for 1.00 have already reached 10.00 for Pettigiani...
Prices for common ones I will denote here with a "c" [up to 2.00], with a "R" for below 25.00 and "RR" for below 100.00; "RRR" for those more valuable....

The 1/2 cent Belgrano
Types of paper and their first use [according to Pettigiani] and their relative scarceness:
MI 1 1935 "c" for both
MI 4 1941-1944 "c" for both, Pettigiani sees also a "traslucido" version
RR 1 November 1943 "R" for both
MI 5 1944 "R" for Bardi, rather "RR" for Pettigiani who also sees a "trama difuso" version. Underrated!
SF 1 June 1946 "c" for both
SF 3 1947 "c" for Bardi, "R" for Pettigiani
I have my doubts about the "rayado vertical" at all, and the year in particular!

The 1 cent Sarmiento in typography
Types of paper and their first use [according to Pettigiani] and their relative scarceness:
MI 1 November 1936 "c" for both for the descending RA [= ascending AЯ as seen from the back!] ; 'R" for the other direction is questionable should it exist at all!
TI 1 does not exist according to Pettigiani; common to Bardi in the upright position "c"
TI 2 1943 "c" for both in the upright position
TI 5 1941 "c" for both in the upright position; "R" for both in the inverted position. Does TI 5 exist at all for the 1c!
Here we find the tizados to be at a mess still ....

Re: The Manual - G.A. Pettigiani - 2010
The 1 cent Sarmiento in offset-litho
Types of paper and their first use [according to Pettigiani] and their relative scarceness:
MI 1 19.01.1936 "c" for both
MI 3 December 1939 "c" for both for the "m" version *; "RRR" for both for the "M" version. This seems to be the most scarce stamp of the P&R I
MI 5 1944/1945 "c" for both; Pettigiani also sees a "trama difuso". I have my doubt about the dates!
RR 2 July 1950 "c" for both
ZA 1 1953 "c" for both; according to Pettigiani we have 2 different design sizes. The larger one that of the "gofrado" [broken gum]
ZA 1 gofrado 1956 "c" for both
ZA 2 not in Bardi; "RR" according to Pettigiani in 1954
ZA 3 1957 "R" for both
SF 1 1946 "c" for both
The used stamps on Zárate paper are highly valued! The mint stamps were probably give-aways for stamp dealers or something like that
Here we find the Zárate to be at a mess still ....
* "M" = direction of paper parallel to the long side of the stamp; "m" parallel to the short side of the stamp.
The design types I and II are distributed as follows - although Pettigiani is not aware of them:
type I in MI 1 and MI 3 and all later papers, type II only on MI 1 and MI 3!
