The Ministerials with serifs [perfilados] were issued in 1925 according to the catalogues; still the 1926 Commemoratives were without serifs! Judging from the types of paper used, the perfilados only started circa 1932???

I think you are misreading Klass. He doesn't mean the overprint was applied on 1925. He means the type (JSM without point) was issued on 1925 (offset), and 1931 (typo).

Me parece que estas malentendiendo a Klass. No dice que la sobrecarga es de 1925, dice (o por lo menos, pretende decir) que fue aplicada sobre los tipos San Martin sin punto de 1925 (offset) y 1931 (tipografia).

I am trying to get a better idea what this series was about, when it got issued and why. What types of paper and when. What type of initials and when....

Apart from drawing conclusions from what I observe myself in my stamps, I would like to appreciate what has been studied and researched before and ought to have been reflected in the major catalogues of Argentina.

I do find a mess and when someone shrugs one's shoulders, it gets me a bit irritated ....

I honestly don't think that this particular issue is a mess. I said, and I agree, that this is a bit misleading in some catalogs. We might argue if it is a bit misleading, very misleading, a small mess, or a terrible horrible mess. Personally, I'm not very interested in this kind of debate.

It is important to correct the mistakes, and to clarify whatever is misleading. Judging the classic authors, using strong despective words, is IMHO, completely pointless at best. I would say it is not even fair. Certainly I don't think it is fair for you to judge VK work, when you admit you (still) didn't see his two main works (1958 and 1974 editions).

Anyway, if you want to start a thread complaining about the catalogs, then I don't think this thread is the right place. This forum is about the JSM issue, and this thread (according to the title) is about the serif departmental overprints. I think it shouldn't be about how messy, or not, the catalogs are about this issue. If a beginner tries to read this thread, then it would probably understand even less than reading the catalogs.

So why you don't start a thread (or you might even ask the admins to create a sub-forum), to complain, list, and debate about all the mistakes and missings in the classic literature? Personally, I would prefer we stick to the actual topic here (which is what I tried to do in my replies).

Este forum es acerca de la serie de JSM, y este hilo (segun el titulo) se supone que deberia ser acerca de las sobrecargas perfiladas en esta serie. Me parece que no deberia ser acerca de cuan correctamente eso esta tratado en los catalogos o no. Si un principiante lee este hilo, seguramente entendera mucho menos que leyendo la literatura clasica.

Yo te propondria que, si tanto te interesa, abras un hilo especifico (o quizas pide a los admin que creen un sub-forum), para quejarse y tratar todos los errores y omisiones de la literatura clasica. Personalmente, yo preferiria que aqui en este hilo mantengamos el tema original (que es lo que intentado hacer con mis respuestas).

I got into to this thread to help. I wrote here to provide the answers to the questions you were asking. I answered the questions the best I could. I answered honestly and directly. Furthermore, answering to you takes "double the work" because it must be translated, and I do that manually.

You asked when the serif overprint were issued, and why there is an (apparent) difference between Kneitschel and Klass catalogs. I answered immediately that you were (IMHO) misreading Klass. The obvious implication is that the date in Kneitschel (1931) was right. You further asked why exactly Klass uses the 1925 year. I answered that question as well. So I answered your questions, why in earth are you saying "...instead of coming up with suggestions..." ?

Now, in a normal world, I would expect, perhaps, a small "thank you". But instead, all I got here were attacks, accusations, and almost insults.

I answered that you are misreading Klass, that those years (1925/1931) he is refering to the types of the stamps, not to the overprint. Wasn't obvious then, that Kneitschel is correct and there is no actual contradiction between Klass and Kneitschel?
