Próceres y Riqueza volume I - small size offset-litho
The small size stamps printed in offset-litho in sheet of 200 = 20x10.
Apart from the various types of paper a special study deserves the preparation of the plates.
So far we could establish that for the larger size PyR I the base or root block had been 10 = 5x2, it usually is not the case for the small size stamps. Should we find particular characteristics than the repetition is not that striking! In a lot of 50 stamps not more than 2 copies usually. So maybe 5x5 could be a root block???

Re: Próceres y Riqueza volume I - small size offset-litho
Block of 5x10 scanned in 2 parts:

3rd column, 2nd row:

Another block of 15 (6 wide, 3 high):

The root block has 5x5 which in the blokc of 50 appears twice [on top of each other] and in the block of 15 partly but next to each other. In the block of 15 the green belongs to the 1st column of the root block but is here in column 6!
The 2 red characteristics are not exactly the same and have different positions!

Re: Próceres y Riqueza volume I - small size offset-litho
The above displayed characteristics only occur in the first printings of the 2c Urquiza [1935], the numbers of S.O. stamps I have are neglectable:
- 1E3a/MI1 - the S.O. has 2 versions [S.O. in typography, S.O. in offset-litho]
in the following printings I have NOT found them:
- 1E4 / MI3 [1940] - incl. S.O. in offset-litho
- 1E3c / MI2 [1941] - incl. S.O. in offset-litho
- NGR / SF1 [1945] - incl. S.O. in offset-litho
- NOP / SF3 [1947]
- 2C / RR2 [1948]

Rein,
I am so glad that you are spending time on the small format stamps, which I have neglected.
The 2c is, interestingly, rare. There must have been many small runs judging by the wide variation in colors I find.
thanks again

The above characteristics of the 2c also occur in the non-Ministerials:

The 1/2c Belgrano has at least one characteristic that only occurs in the first printing - parallel watermark, symmetrical papermesh and one characteristic only in the version with no watermark. Of the other types of paper I have not enough copies to be sure I had to find them:

The "Belqrano" only in the first printing!

The 1c D.F. Sarmiento has 2 types when you look at the right bottom corner. Type I [is it really the oldest one??] has NO break, type II has a tiny break:

The tiny break:

1st column, 8th row:

6th column, 8th row:

Other plate characteristics found in the 1/2c stamps without watermark:

The dot in "R" has been positioned by Alberto Robson:
