This was not written primarily because of the deplorable state of Argentina catalogues! Quite the contrary! There is a tendency of the Argentina publications to reach far beyond what was once thought to be the AVANTGARDE in Philately!
The German Catalogues of Michel are still considered to be the Bibles for a stamp collector! Whether we collect the Infla period or the very modern Bund!
The decline of the quality of these catalogues started years ago, but so far this could have the contra-argument of not concerning the specialized ones!
Now, their TOP Catalogue - the Germany Specialized Michel is deteriorating!
For some years they do not mention the various types of paper anymore! When there is a watermark they mention it, and so if the paper contains yellow fluorescence! What else does a collector need???
Coated paper??? What is that????
Just a few aspects that currently are significantly important in Argentina get neglected in Germany!!! The former World Champion wants to forget how to play!
The German stamps do not get a watermark since 1963. But does that mean there are no types of paper since that year????
Is this important at all for the contemporean collector??? In case there is only just ONE type of paper, why mention it?! How about no longer mentioning the printing techniques or the perforations???? Get rid of them!!!
The collectors should remain stupid! Ignorant! Never to know how to recognize paper, printing or perforation!
ONly the highpriests, the experts will have to know! But how will they ever get to learn about these aspects???? When they will not learn this from their Michel Bible????
Or am I wrong???
to be continued ...
How our catalogues keep the philatelists stupid!
