Switzerland 1882 Standing Helvetia TWO Designs!

So far I haven't read anywhere there were TWO designs of the 1882 Standing Helvetia [Stehende Helvetia]. Most collectors are so occupied with the various perforations, watermarks and controll marks that they failed to see the obvious fact that there were TWO different designs. Not paying attention to the differences in face value and their impact on the design.

The designs - 3 already! - are spread over the various face values as follows:

Design I: 20c, 25c green, 25c blue, 40c grey, 50c blue, 50c green; 1fr lilac, 1fr carmine;

Design II: 30c , 3fr;

Design III: 25c blue, 40c grey

Whether designs are spread among the various perforations, watermarks etc.. remains to be seen. So far only design III had been noticed by Swiss specialists....

25 and 40 c type III are catalogued. Its a pity i do not command German but it would be convenient to read the Spezialkatalog Schweiz Liechteinstein section concerning Stehende Helvetia that brings lots of information about it. I have an old edition and consider that the present one should have more information. Saludos,

I do have the Zumstein Spezial! But this is not about the recognized types of the 25c and 40c but whether there were 3 designs [drawings] WITHOUT face values from which the engraver started to make the separate engravings.

Rein, It would be nice to know the original engravings without face values. Perhaps there were two types and used one for some values (the ones you mention) and the other for the rest. Saludos,
